I want to start off this post by just saying sorry *cue Justin Bieber*. The weekly posts have gone bi-weekly and it’s just because married life + a business is a tricky combination I’m just learning to figure out – so thank you for bearing with me!
Now back to the regular scheduled programming…
I’m taking a moment to thank a vendor who truly made my wedding flawless. Much of the compliments that we receive today is a direct result of this vendor’s work. Sara Baig from Sara Baig Designs and I were brought together by destiny. It was just meant to be. Her creativity, professionalism and honesty is what made my wedding beautiful.
Décor + Florals are a key component to your wedding – you need to find someone who understands you and your vision. For me, Sara was that person. We met with several decorators that took our style and spun it into their own creative web. This is exactly what we wanted. Although all of them were just as talented and AMAZING; with Sara I felt like she was crawling into my brain and literally picking up visions from there. A match made in heaven. Nothing was impossible and everything was executed perfectly.
I even had a moment to sit and chat with her before I walked down the aisle – and the best part – she was always excited, happy, and professional – which only makes you feel that much better as a bride.
For me personally I wanted to be able to trust my decorator; be able to walk away and let them execute my idea. I knew with SBD I was going to have it all just by the way her team oozed creativity. I can’t thank her enough for making my “Indian Royalty at an English garden party ceremony; mixed in with elaborate florals and over the top art deco reception,” come to life. Sound like I’m taking about too many styles? Sara never thought so… and she fused it up with her own little twist!
My experience aside it was REALLY hard choosing just one decorator. Not only do I work with majority of them, I know what each of them is capable of – and trust me they ALL amaze me! Everyone is whimsically beautiful in their own way. So how do you choose just one?
- Set up a meeting and state your style/theme but let the decorator run the consultation and see what they come up with when you let them run wild! This will give you their best possible vision and execution of your wedding style.
- Think big and talk budget. I always tell my clients to tell me your dream invitation first then tell me your budget and I’ll make it happen; so do the same with your decorator. A good decorator will find ways to make it all happen without breaking your bank – now that doesn’t mean you can ask for champagne on a beer budget – let’s respect the work, creativity and hours that go into designing a wedding.
- Have fun. These are people you’re working with around the most stressful time in your life. Find ones you hit it off with. It will only make you that much happier and stress free the day of.
